Myopia Management
Myopia management is the act of trying to curb the progression of short sightedness in young people. The prevalence of myopia in the UK has more than doubled over the last 50 years with patients presenting at a younger age. Reducing the progression of myopia in young people means we can try and limit the maximum potential prescription and, in turn, reduce the eye health risks that are attributed to myopia later in life.
Myopia management options come in contact lenses and spectacles lenses. Both have a unique design to reduce peripheral blur and reduce the stimulus for the eye to elongate, aiming to reduce the progression of short sightedness1.
