Eye Examinations

Gardiners Opticians provides a full range of professional ophthalmic services to care for the patients' eyesight and to aid in the detection of abnormal eye conditions, (such as glaucoma, cataracts and diabetes), with the prescribing of corrective spectacle lenses and contact lenses to correct their vision as required.

The eye examination is tailored to the individual patient’s symptoms and requirements: the results are discussed, so that the final out come best suits the patient’s needs. Routine eye examinations should be carried out every two years, or earlier if the Optometrist recommends so.

An eye examination usually takes about 25-30 minutes, in which the patient’s history and symptoms are recorded. Ophthalmoscopy is performed to assess the health of the external and internal eye to screen for eye disease. Lenses are used and subjective questions asked to determine if a spectacle correction is required.
